Educational System
PNU educational system is focused on student, content as well as coordinated and unified exams administered throughout the country. Based on the specified resources for each course at each study field and following students self-instruction and group tutorials by teachers via educational media, students sit in coordinated exams at all PNU study centers.
Students' Admission
1. Regular:
In this type of admission, those students who has passed the National University Entrance Examination held annually by the National Organization for Educational Testing will be admitted as regular PNU students.
2. Encompassing:
In 1994, students were admitted through encompassing degree programs which were first launched at Bachelor Degree but are now offered at Master Degree as well. These programs are the most flexible programs ever presented by a university in Iran. Applicants of bachelor's encompassing degree programs should have Diploma (in conventional educational system) or
Pre-University Degree (in new educational system).
Education and Assessment
PNU follows a uniform and integrated system of education and assessment in all of its study centers and campuses. By using new technologies in education and assessment, holding all different stages of exams such as end of semester tests, PhD Comprehensive tests, entrance exams, TOEFL tests, tests of overseas and international study centers are performed electronically by two methods of paperless (electronically) and conventional (by paper).
A- Preparation of software for holding all phases of testing electronically
· Preparing Headquarters version of software for all stages of sending a notified scheme and edition of question
· Receiving the designed questions by academic members in question bank electronically
· Preparing Headquarters version of software in study centers and campuses for receiving questions and sending the read answer keys
· Sending questions and password of opening question electronically at the specified time
B- Preparing a software for holding electronic test
C- Registering and holding TOEFL test electronically
The TOEFL test was held electronically from registration up to issuance of applicants’ certificates.
Educational Methods
1. Conventional
Those students who admitted by passing the National University Entrance Examination or taking part in the encompassing degree programs can participate in the optional tutorial classes or make use of self-study textbooks.
2. Semi-Conventional
In this type of education, the students in addition to the use of tutorial classes can benefit from internet and pass some of their credits virtually (electronically).
3. E-learning
In order to actualize the objectives of open and distance education system, e-learning was launched in 2006. One of the significant features of e-learning is accessibility of all learners to higher education in everywhere and at every time by making use of Internet. Virtual learning is a method of academic education and is organized based on sampling of modern global distance education experiences and application of modern multimedia equipments. In this educational method, all of the necessary training is offered web-based. Currently, PNU has launched 93 e-learning Programs in 115 centers at master degree level and 9561 students are continuing their study via taking part in virtual classes.
